5th Graders draw pictures for the Grand Rapids Symphony Performace

The 5th grade students at Cedar View will be taking their annual trip to see the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra perform. This concert is put on by the GRSO for all 5th graders in the greater Grand Rapids area and is a wonderful opportunity for the students to experience live orchestral music. The featured piece this year is "Behold The Bold Umbrellaphant", a musical adaption of the unique poems by Jack Prelutsky. In these poems, Prelutsky pairs inanimate objects with animals for a truly unique new creation (Umbrella and Elephant give us Umbrellaphant). For this piece, the music and art departments at Cedar View are teaming up to enhance the learning experience for the students.  Students will be creating a picture to accompany one of poems and these pictures will be  sent into the GRSO. The GRSO will be choosing several pieces of art from the many schools and displaying them on the big screen while the song is performed for every member of the audience to view!
