Football in the Art Room?

Every Thursday the CSHS football players come to Cedar View to mentor the students. This week, the athletes are sporting their pink jerseys in recognition of October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Hats off to the fine gentlemen who inspire our little Red Hawks.

Local Artist and Art Prize top 25 winner visits Cedar Springs Schools.

Cedar Spring Grad and top 25 Art Prize artist Rob VanderZee spent time with Middle School and Red Hawk Students talking about his art, ArtPrize and life as an artist.

Math connections in art!

Some really wonderful connections are being made in art class concerning concepts students are learning in math.  Fourth graders were pretty excited to see artist Wassily Kandinsky used concentric circles and geometric shapes in  his paintings.  Fifth graders have been using symmetry when designing their mummys.  The ipad classes have discovered radial symmetry with their kaleidoscope app and mirror imaging with their drawing app.
Coming up 4th grade will be creating their mirror image (what we call positive and negative space) pumpkins and a concentric circle tree. 6th Graders are drawing cubes by learning right angles and parallel lines.
